DESCRIPTION: Louis Fernier, Paris, for Ellis, DePree & Tucker, Exeter, England, Gilt Anglaise Riche variant case with beveled glasses, heavily molded top and base with inset quarter columns, the front and sides with silvered panels, engraved and polychrome painted with scenes of ducks and egrets in a marsh, Roman numeral dial with blued steel hands, week going two train movement striking at the hour and half hour on a single gong, and repeating the hours on demand, movement back plate signed "L.F. Paris" and numbered 4750, silvered lever platform, c1885
CONDITION: Case very good with some minor losses to gilding and a few small areas of dirt/ tarnish, handle a bit loose, front glass with small chip at upper right, left glass with tiny chip at upper left, rear glass with surface chip at upper right, dial very good, hands good, minute a bit short, decorated panels good with toning at edges, minor scratches to front panel, minor scratches and a few spots to left panel, movement runs and stops, strikes and repeats correctly, needs service, back plate with staining, Ht 7 3/4" to top of handle. A very impressive clock.
